Michael Blakney

Michael Blakney, a finance director, utilized his skills and expertise as the Controller for NorComp from 2020 to 2022. In this position, he led accounting functions and systems through strategic planning, reporting and analysis, and variance explanations. He excels at partnering with stakeholders, executives, and internal teams alike to monitor business performance, taking proactive action to counter-measure variances and mitigate operational risk. Furthermore, this role allowed him to implement effective controls and identify improvements. He managed month-end close process, the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and balance sheet reviews. Mr. Blakney is adept at the development of standard costs including standard rate development, bill of material changes and ERP system updates.

Prior to this position, Mr. Blakney garnered experience as a senior manager at KaVo North America. He had previously been the financial manager at KaVo Kerr, an innovative dental devices and products company. In his current role, Mr. Blakney’s experience lends itself to leading financial analysis, reporting cost activities for U.S. imaging businesses, and coordinating financial reporting processors. He also participates in daily business operations. Over the course of a thriving career that has spanned more than 20 years, Mr. Blakney has built on an ever-emergent skill set, which encompasses proficiencies in operations and accounting, which currently enables him to ensure the stability and maintain the standard of excellence that has long been preserved by the global dental machinery manufacturer. At his current post within the company, Mr. Blakney makes the most of his expertise, and he continues to strive for quality in his every endeavor. He is considered a good business partner, pro-active with the mindset for continuous improvement.

Mr. Blakney currently serves as the Director of Operations Finance for LifeNet Health, based in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
